专业概况

Concentration in performance is designed for the graduate student who wishes to prepare for a professional career in performance or other creative pursuits. The concentration focuses on development of technique, musicianship and repertoire for either voice or instrument, and includes applied instruction, participation in ensembles, and the study of advanced music theory and music history.

New Orleans is a vibrant musical city where performance opportunities abound, from symphony orchestra to avant-garde opera, and UNO Music students have the opportunity to perform at numerous venues around the city and become active members of the community. The applied faculty are leaders in the professional music community of New Orleans and are members of the most prominent musical organizations of the region, including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Orleans Opera, and the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. Graduates from our performance programs are found touring the world, singing at the Metropolitan Opera, teaching high school music, and leading university doctoral programs.

Applicants enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or international equivalent will be considered for conditional admission. Minimum GPA Requirements: 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all undergraduate coursework, 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all graduate coursework. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based test score of 79 total or Computer-based test score of 550; The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 6.5; PTE (Pearson Tests of English) Academic score of 58; IELP Intensive English Language Program: Satisfactory completion of the Intensive English Language Program at UNO; Minimum Scores on IELP Test: Listening Comprehension: 70; Grammar/Reading/Vocabulary: 63; Writing/Composition: 75.
