专业概况

在这里学什么？

The Department of Music offers a Master of Music in Music with concentrations in composition, instrumental conducting, jazz studies, and instrumental performance. Our program is generally a two-year (four-semester) course of study, emphasizing advanced training in the applied area and in music history and theory. Interested candidates in all concentrations must successfully pass an audition and be admitted to the university's Graduate School.

All candidates must complete a minimum of 33 credit hours, take part in the Graduate Colloquium (MUS 6900) every semester, present a graduate recital, and pass both oral and written comprehensive examinations during the final semester. Composition students have additional requirements.

The Department of Music offers the Master of Music degree with tracks in performance, conducting (choral or instrumental), composition, and jazz studies. The program of study requires a minimum of 33 graduate credit hours to include course work in the applied area, music theory, music history, and electives; and participation in the graduate colloquium each semester. At the end of the program, students must successfully present a graduate recital. Students must also pass both written and oral comprehensive examinations. Composition track students will also submit an original composition.

Applicants enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or international equivalent will be considered for conditional admission. Minimum GPA Requirements: 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all undergraduate coursework, 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all graduate coursework. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based test score of 79 total or Computer-based test score of 550; The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 6.5; PTE (Pearson Tests of English) Academic score of 58; IELP Intensive English Language Program: Satisfactory completion of the Intensive English Language Program at UNO; Minimum Scores on IELP Test: Listening Comprehension: 70; Grammar/Reading/Vocabulary: 63; Writing/Composition: 75.
