专业概况

在这里学什么？

The Department of Computer Science offers a program of study leading to the degree of Master of Science. The program is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate the needs of two kinds of students: those who have recently completed an undergraduate degree in computer science and want to further their education, and those practicing professionals who want to acquire specific academic experience relevant to their work.

Graduate Curriculum Options

The department offers both thesis and non-thesis options in the master’s program.

Non-Thesis Option

Students that want to acquire employment in a specialized IT/Computer Science field may want to consider a non-thesis master’s degree. Students completing the master's degree without a thesis are required to give a satisfactory performance in a comprehensive examination covering course work.

Thesis Option

Students interested in academic research (and perhaps continuing on to acquire a Doctorate) are encouraged to pursue a master’s degree via the thesis-included curriculum. Students completing the master's degree with a thesis are required to submit an acceptable thesis and give a satisfactory defense of the thesis.

Duration: For non-thesis MS, thirty-six (36) credit-hours are required; For thesis-based MS, thirty (30) credit-hours are required.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have the following: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a 4-year degree equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad. Applicants enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's degree or international equivalent will be considered for conditional admission. Minimum GPA Requirements: 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all undergraduate coursework, 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4-point scale for all graduate coursework. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based test score of 79 total or Computer-based test score of 550; The International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall band score of 6.5; PTE (Pearson Tests of English) Academic score of 58; IELP Intensive English Language Program: Satisfactory completion of the Intensive English Language Program at UNO; Minimum Scores on IELP Test: Listening Comprehension: 70; Grammar/Reading/Vocabulary: 63; Writing/Composition: 75.
