Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, with over 300 million speakers in Latin America, Spain, and the U.S. This diverse faculty is dedicated to excellence in scholarship, teaching, and community outreach. A wide range of interests reflects the program's diversity in purpose and desire to satisfy a variety of student needs and career goals.

For the B.A. degree in Spanish with Teacher Licensure (K-12), students must complete all requirements for the Spanish major (39 hours). The following courses are specifically required: SPN 305, 306, 307, 308, 311, 312, 321, 322, 497, and at least 6 additional hours at the 400 level, only 3 of which may be obtained by means of a SPN 491 or 498. A grade of "C-" or better is required in each course counted toward the major and a "C" (2.00) average or better for all courses counted toward the major. HST 101 and 102 are recommended. Study abroad is highly recommended. Students must also satisfy the professional education requirements listed under the Watson College of Education. Students planning to pursue licensure should apply to the Watson College of Education as soon as admissions requirements are met (typically in the sophomore year) and plan their programs in regular consultation with their advisors. Teacher licensure requirements are established at the state level and may be changed by the state at any time.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a U.S. 4.0 scale to be considered for admission. Students must have completed the high school. English Proficiency: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of 71 on the Internet-based exam. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum score of 6.0 on the academic module. Duolingo English Test (DET) - minimum score of 54, Pearson PTE - minimum score 54.
