Gerontology Plus 1 Master’s Degree Option

Students must have a 3.0 GPA and be accepted into this program by the beginning of their senior year. During the senior year, the student will be allowed to take the following four course replacements:

GRN 501 - Aging and Society instead of SOC 336 Sociology of Aging

GRN 540 - Current Issues in Gerontology instead of GRN 440 - Current Issues in Gerontology

GRN 523 - Physiology of Human Aging instead of Approved Gerontology Elective

PSY 524 - Psychology of Aging instead of PSY 324 Psychology of Aging

Requirements to Complete the M.S. in Applied Gerontology

After completing the senior year and graduating with a degree in Public Health with a Gerontology concentration, the student will take the following courses in the plus 1 year to complete the Master’s Degree in Applied Gerontology:

Requirements: 9 credit hours

GRN 590 - Practicum in Gerontology

GRN 598 - Master’s Project Proposal Development

GRN 598 - Final Project in Gerontology

Gerontology Electives: 15 credit hours

The student chooses 15 credit hours approved by the Gerontology program coordinator.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum score of 6.0 on the academic module. Duolingo English Test (DET) - minimum score of 54, Pearson PTE - minimum score 54.
