专业概况

在这里学什么？ This accredited course uses the power of advanced mathematics to understand how our universe works. It focuses on the sophisticated theoretical techniques and applications of modern physics. You will study specialist astrophysics modules such as The Structure of Stars and Extreme Astrophysics. You will be taught valuable key mathematical, computational and theoretical skills which you can use in your future career. Our students go on to further research at postgraduate level, or to work in industries such as engineering, aerospace, IT, and finance. We are proud that research undertaken within the School, by Professor Sir Peter Mansfield, was recognised with a 2003 Nobel Prize for the invention of Magnetic Resonance Imaging body scanners. This technology has already helped more than half a billion people worldwide. More recently, our use of quantum technologies to understand how the brain works is changing the way that neurological conditions are detected and treated.We share our love of physics with budding scientists worldwide through the popular Sixty Symbols YouTube channel. We encourage students to share their fascination with physics with schools and the wider community through our outreach programme.
