Overview

Develop your own specialised pathway in the areas that interest you.

The Department's strengths include:

• metaphysics
• mind and language
• ethics and political philosophy
• philosophy of art and science
• social philosophy, including feminist philosophy and critical philosophy of race
• epistemology.

As well as a range of taught modules you will also complete a dissertation, on a topic of the your choosing, with strong support and guidance from a member of staff.

Undertaking postgraduate work fosters many vital skills and may offer a head start in the job market. Studying at this level allows students to develop qualities of self-discipline and self-motivation that are essential to employment in a wide range of fields.

The course also provides the theoretical training required for progression to a research degree in philosophy or to pursue a career as a professional philosopher.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students who do not meet the entry requirements stated above and students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university with good grades, may be eligible for the University’s pre-Master's Programme delivered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
