Research overview

MPhil students follow a course of independent study supervised by one or more academic members of staff. There are two research paths available to qualified applicants:

MPhil

Studying for an MPhil degree involves a minimum of two years of full-time or four years of part-time directed study, at the end of which you produce a 60,000-word dissertation in your chosen area of research. If you are registered for the MPhil, you may transfer to the PhD if your work is judged to be of suitable quality.

The department is involved with several research centres: Centre for Ancient Drama and its Reception (CADRE), the Institute for the Study of Slavery (ISOS), the Centre for Spartan and Peloponnesian Studies (CSPS), and the Centre for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (CLABS).

中国学生入学要求

为来自中国的学生设计 Students who do not meet the entry requirements stated above and students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university with good grades, may be eligible for the University’s pre-Master's Programme delivered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
