专业概况

You can't do business without an accountant. And in today's world, you have an added advantage if you can understand both accounting and data analytics.

Our Master of Professional Accounting (Business Analytics) to give you a solid foundation in every aspect of accounting, including accounting information systems, finance, taxation, auditing and law. You'll also develop a specialty through a range of business analytics subjects, which are designed to give your business skills that extra edge.

It's an ideal course if you have an undergraduate degree without an accounting major and want to hone your accounting and analytics skills.

You'll learn:

Financial and management accounting

Recognise and apply the accounting principles that govern the preparation, presentation and communication of accounting information. Learn how to use accounting software to record business transactions.

Company and commercial law

Explore the core principles of contract law, consumer protection and the law of negligence. Understand how to work with different business structures.

Business analytics

Learn how high-quality data can improve processes and meet the unique needs of businesses.

Auditing

Understand the concepts involved in the auditing process and integrate them with practical applications.

Tax

Examine Commonwealth income tax legislation and the implications of income tax on individuals and businesses.

Economics and finance

Learn a variety of economic concepts and how to apply them in business and policy-making.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Management accountant

Manage accounting records, financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and super funds. Provide financial advice and formulate business plans.

Auditor

Ensure businesses comply with internal control procedures and legal standards.

Tax accountant

Examine taxes owed and prepare tax returns that comply with reporting and payment requirements.

Business analyst

Understand how businesses run and use data to solve problems and improve processes.

Customer analytics specialist

Use data analytics to develop marketing strategies and optimise business processes.

Professional recognition

The Master of Professional Accounting (Business Analytics) is accredited by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), CPA Australia and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Students are required to complete specific subjects in order to graduate with the CPA Australia and CAANZ accredited qualification. Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Graduates of this course may apply for membership with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Membership may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.
