This advanced program of study offers students a choice between a thesis and an extended coursework This advanced degree allows students to explore the discipline of mathematics by concentrating in two of four areas: analysis and topology; algebra and combinatorics; applied mathematics and dynamical systems; and actuarial and financial mathematics.

Careers

Through a rigorous course of study, the Master's Degree in Mathematics takes an undergraduate degree in mathematics one step further. Students select two of four concentration areas allowing them to focus on preparation for further study in pure mathematics or to select applied options for career preparation.

Career opportunities that might be pursued: Higher education; High-tech industries; Government agencies; Insurance industry; Finance; Bio-tech industry.

With further education, one of these paths is possible: Economist; University professor; Actuary; Operations researcher; Lawyer; Cryptographer; Epidemiologist; Computer scientist.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale for their bachelor’s degree to be considered for regular admission. Admitted students are expected to have undergraduate educational experiences, including general education studies, that are similar to those required for a baccalaureate at Northern Arizona University. English proficiency scores for most programs are: 80 (TOEFL iBT) or 6.5 (IELTS).
