专业概况

The Master's Degree introduces students to the critical thinking necessary to work independently in industrial settings and prepares you for a professional career.

Coursework

A student must take one three-hour course in each of three of the four areas (inorganic, analytical, organic, and physical), excluding special topics and research courses. These courses must be graduate courses, 5000 and above. A student may also take nine credits of any combination of CHEM 5190, 5290, 5390, 5590, or 5790. One departmental seminar is required on the thesis research.

Graduate Outcomes: 1. Students should have an advanced level understanding of at least three of the following areas of chemistry - Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. They should have a graduate level understanding of their major area(s) of research.

2. Students should broaden their professional foundations through activities such as teaching, internships, and fellowships

3. Students should be able to communicate scientific results in writing and in oral presentation.

4. Students should acquire the basic tools needed to carry out independent chemical research. Students should become proficient in their specialized area of chemistry and successfully complete an advanced research project

为来自中国的学生设计 A bachelor's degree from an accredited or recognized school is required. A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on previous coursework is required for full admission (3.25 for interdisciplinary program applicants). Proof of English Proficiency: A minimum score of 540 on the written exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test; IELTS: A minimum score of 6.0 is required for admission.
