Wichita State’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in communication field major will enhance your writing, speaking and visual communication and your ability to plan, organize, evaluate and think strategically. And the skills you’ll learn you can apply to virtually any career.

Curriculum

Your communication field major comprises either an 18-credit-hour concentration in communication (as the major area of study) or a nine-credit-hour concentration in communication (as one of two allied departments taken in addition to the major area of study). Some or all of the upper-division coursework may be in the communication core courses.

Departmental Honors Track:

Wichita State’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in communication, departmental honors track, provides opportunities to take your academic achievement to an even higher level - through advanced coursework - leading to an Honors distinction when you graduate. To complete the communication departmental honors track, you'll take 12 hours of upper-level communications coursework and also complete a senior honors project. Students must have a 3.250 GPA overall and must maintain at least a 3.500 GPA in communication as well as in departmental honors courses in communication to earn departmental honors. Students must apply for and be admitted to departmental honors in communication before their senior year.

A communication degree from Wichita State combines the classroom knowledge and hands-on learning that opens doors to careers in many fields from public relations and journalism to editing and education.
