Overview

The International Economic Law LLM is an advanced course of study which will provide you with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the global economy and its legal framework.

There has never been a more important time to understand the global economy: global value chains where goods are made and traded across the world, investment flows that stimulate economic growth and destabilis domestic policies, regional politics pursued through shared economic institutions with neighbours, and international arbitration and dispute settlement challenging the dynamics between individuals and the State, between North and South, and between private and public power, are all at the forefront of contemporary concerns.

This programme provides you with a theoretical and doctrinal knowledge of the legal and institutional frameworks which govern the global economy. You will examine the law and institutions of the global economy in their international, regional, and national settings and examine the pressing contemporary challenges in the global economy.

Apart from judicial appointment or working within the legal profession, past graduates have gone on to undertake Government service, to work within International Humanitarian Organisations, the UN, institutions of the European Union, to pursue careers in commerce, management, banking, marketing, public relations and a whole host of other challenging and rewarding career opportunities.

Any of the Law postgraduate taught programmes offered additionally provide an ideal opportunity to gain advanced specialist knowledge in preparation for further postgraduate research. All programmes of study are designed to enhance academic profiles and to ensure that graduates leave us with highly marketable skills, whatever they decide that market to be.

An LLM in International Economic Law provides rigorous training in legal analysis and promotes critical thinking and independent research skills. As such, it is excellent preparation for those students seeking to pursue a career in legal practice, and who wish to develop their knowledge base and skills in matters of contemporary economic importance.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students who do not meet the entry requirements stated above and students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university with good grades, may be eligible for the University’s pre-Master's Programme delivered on campus at the University of Liverpool International College. Students need to have IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
