专业概况

This course is designed to prepare you for a successful career in construction management and you will benefit from the Department’s strong links with industry. Additionally, the degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building and by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. (Accreditation is reviewed periodically. Successful completion of courses accredited by CIOB and RICS satisfies the academic requirements for membership of CIOB and RICS.)

As with all our surveying and construction courses, the programme structure provides an opportunity to explore a range of construction-related disciplines prior to specialising in the final year. You will be able to transfer onto other programmes, such as BSc Quantity Surveying or BSc Construction Management and Surveying, at the end of your second year if you wish to do so. A emphasis is placed on transferable skills, and University of Reading graduates frequently progress into management roles within contracting firms, taking responsibility for all aspects of project management.

Career

After graduation you will be well-placed to move into careers such as construction, site, property or project management, and will probably work within contracting. Alternatively, you can choose to move on to postgraduate study.

The employment prospects for our graduates are outstanding, with 98% of the School of the Built Environment’s undergraduate students in work or further study six months after graduating (Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey, 2016-17.)
