The number of bilingual and multilingual communities and workplaces is increasing, and language planning is an area of ??increasing importance. As a result, there is an increasing demand for individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to formulate effective strategies and systems that promote linguistic equality. As language considerations become a priority for many areas - development, planning, education, health, IT, marketing - staff in a wide range of fields need to develop language planning understanding and skills. In addition, the publication of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure (2011) has changed the legal framework regarding the use of the Welsh language and thus means an ever increasing demand for a versatile bilingual workforce.
The MA in Language Policy and Planning explores, in an innovative and comprehensive way, an area that is becoming increasingly important in Wales and beyond. The program benefits from the expertise of various Bangor University schools in the fields of Social Sciences, Linguistics, Law, Business, Welsh Language, and Health Sciences which will provide students with an understanding of the theoretical issues of Language Planning, as well as the crucial qualifying questions.
