专业概况

在这里学什么?

Materials Engineers design, characterize and manufacture the "stuff" of our everyday world. Semiconductors, metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites are examples of the materials used to make everything around you - from your computer to the chair you are sitting in, from artificial body parts to the skin of the space shuttle. Materials scientists and engineers work in nanotechnology, biotechnology, aerospace, alternative energy, microelectronics and virtually every industry sector.

Major areas of study are the relationships between materials' structure, properties, processing, and performance. The MatE programs stress the roles of design, development, and process engineering, and also prepare the exceptional student for research and graduate study. The Department has excellent laboratory facilities for courses and student research.

BS Materials Engineering ABET Program Educational Objectives

The Materials Engineering Program is designed to produce graduates who are prepared to:

Practice engineering in fields such as design, research, development, testing, and manufacturing.

Engage in lifelong self-directed learning to maintain and enhance professional skills.

Conduct themselves as ethical and responsible professionals as well as articulate the environmental, safety and economic impacts of their work on society.

Demonstrate leadership skills in the workplace.

BS Materials Engineering ABET Student Outcomes

The Materials Engineering program is an ABET-accredited program. ABET Student Outcomes are listed in the major bullets below. Each ABET Student Outcome is followed by the Materials Engineering Student Performance Criteria in the sub-bullets.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students should have earn a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of "B" grades and Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of "C-" or better. English Language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) IBT score 61; Paper based score 500; IELTS score 6.0; PTE academic score 44.
