专业概况

在这里学什么？

The Department of World Languages and Literatures helps students communicate effectively and thrive in a global context. Our programs are multilingual, our faculty and students are multicultural, and our curriculum is international.

We offer majors in four of the most widely spoken languages in the world: Chinese, Japanese, French, and Spanish, and M.A. programs in Spanish and French. We also offer language minors in International Business, Italian, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, and a single subject teaching credential program in French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

We offer language and culture courses in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Vietnamese, and classes in Greek and Latin. Our graduates work as teachers, executives, translators, interpreters, civil servants, journalists, and hold many other occupations in global business and finance.

• Literacy: Use appropriate terminology in linguistic, cultural, or literary analysis.
• Cultural Analysis and Comparison: Analyze and compare a wide variety of texts drawing upon their cultural knowledge of France and the Francophone world.
• Literary and Cultural Texts and Traditions: Demonstrate knowledge of major periods, genres, authors, movements of French and Francophone cultural history.
• Demonstrate advanced ability to connect with other disciplines and language communities. Demonstrate advanced translation skills.
• Technology: Demonstrate information processing competency, use of appropriate technologies and tools for research, analysis, communication, and presentation.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students should have earn a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of "B" grades and Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of "C-" or better. English Language requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) IBT score 61; Paper based score 500; IELTS score 6.0; PTE academic score 44.
